On May 3, 2008 in St. Paul MN, representatives from S.T. V. Maiglöckchen made a bid
presentation to host the 23rd Gaufest in Orlando, Florida.  Venessa Grant, representing Rosen
Shingle Creek Hotel, gave an outstanding review of what the hotel has to offer and Carol Schumann
of Maiglöckchen covered the details of the Gaufest.  The audience asked a few questions and in a
time span of 17 minutes, 3 years of work was complete.  Later that night many delegates attended
our hospitality Jacuzzi suite to chat with friends, ask more questions, give a show of support and to
drink away 5 gallons of our special Florida Sunrise margarita.
On May 4th the voting took place and S.T.V. Maiglöckchen won the bid and the privilege to be
the host of the 2011 Gaufest!  Many have said since that moment, be careful what you wish for, but
nothing could be further than the truth.  We believe it is God's plan that Gaufest 2011 take place in
Orlando and we believe that He has, and will continue to, provide the necessary things to make the
Gaufest manageable and successful. With the help of friends from Gulf Coast Enzianer of Pinellas
Park and G.T.E.V Maple Leaf Almrausch we managed the Gauverband's Executive Board Meeting
held February 28-March 1.  If this event is any indicator of what the Orlando Gaufest will be like, then
we are very pleased.  Of the 21 board members, about 1/4 of them either came early or stayed later
to enjoy the Florida weather and attractions.
In 2009 our Verein was one of many who attended the 22. Gaufest in Toledo. Over 1400 people
gathered during the weekend of August 13-16 to compete, learn and of course, party.  Andrew
Beavis of Toledo Holzhacker Buam and Chairperson of the 22. Gaufest presented Paula Schumann
of Maiglöckchen the trophy that stays with the next Gaufest host Verein until it is over.  Paula is the
23. Gaufest Chairperson.
